"We don't really care for how long they will keep us in prison. We only care for our people to be free and for our people to have the right of self-determination." - Pagan Amum, Secretary General of the SPLM told New Sudan Vision in prison on Monday December 7, 2009

(Victoria, BC NSV) - The SPLM SG Mr. Pagan Amum, Yasir Said Arman, amongst others, have been arrested in prison in Khartoum after staging a massive protest on Monday morning to press the NCP to pass key provisions of the landmark agreement.

"We are now in prison, with several hundred. We are in prison, we are ok, only that we have lost our freedom," Pagan said.

The SPLM officials were arrested while on the way to present a petition to members of parliament to enact the referendum law, which facilitates a referendum for the self-determination for the people of southern Sudan.

"People have been beaten but we don't have any concrete information," he said.

"What's good is that our people in Khartoum have come out in their hundreds of thousands demanding freedom and demanding full implementation of the CPA.

"The protest is on, the protest is proceeding."

Meanwhile the SPLM Political Bureau is meeting in Juba and President Kiir has expressed his solidarity with his arrested comrades, Pagan said.

Listen to the unedited audio interview with Pagan. His cellphone appeared to have been confiscated from him, cutting off the interview from reaching its logical conclusion.

Mr. Pagan Amum calls for protests all over the world in front of Sudanese embassies.

What About The CPA?
written by Yai Marach Yai, December 07, 2009
Dear all,

The Sudanese people will determine their future from Monday onward if the Islamic system is still blocking the democratic transformation in Sudan.

The arrest of The Splm leaders will clearly explain the facts that the War Investors of Sudan( National Congress) are -100% not committed to implement the CPA as it came from Nairobi. The question is How the Sudanese people will achieve Unity if the dictatorship is still in place?

The Arrest of Pagan Amum, SPLM Sec.General, Yasser Arman Dupity Sec.General, Abbass Guma Minister In GONU, Mayen Dut Wol Minister of Local Government Khartoum State, Abdalla Tie Gumma Dupity Chairman Legislative Assembly of Khartoum State in addition to SPLM Sec.Gen Khartoum state and other protesters will prove it to the world and international community that the National Congress will not allow free and fair election in April 2010 because they are fearing on losing this coming election

It is time for Sudanese people to determine their way forward ,but before that arrest of the SPLM Leaders is it not against the interim constitution of Sudan?
Do the NCP forget the CPA? lots of questions will come up in this situation any way i will not prolong my words a lots have been said.

Kindly regards,

Does Kirr show sympathy to the NCP policy of arresting demonstrators?
written by Kabarika Lokang, December 08, 2009
Just a thought,
On his urgent meeting with the South Sudanese lawmakers on Monday after the incident that resulted in the arrest of SPLM delegation and other supporters, Kiir, the chairperson and C-IN-C of the Southern Sudan alluded that, Pagan and his colleagues were not demonstrating, but instead they were intended to deliver letter to the Speaker of the national assembly.

The phrase "were not" alone depicted lack of transparency from the SPLM leadership. If the demonstration was officially acknowledged by the Interior ministry that the demonstration should kick off, then the arrested were wrongly subjected to illegal arrest under manipulation of NCP leadership. That's very clear and self convincing.

Kiir should not change tone when his colleagues are in hot spot just to calm the Northerners.

People of the South have right to demonstrate for what they think is lacking for the implementation of the CPA.

It only takes people like Pagan Amum to step up and denounce illegality of regime than to endorse the deviancy that the NCP has developed nowadays.

Let's show support for our leaders, our people and the future of the Southern Sudanese.

Dear citizens,
I think Southern Sudan (SPLM) has the earth breaking momentum right now to get contentious laws done and to rally all opposition parties to bring down unpopular system in our country before Christmas. The only thing that worries me is if we let the protest/demonstration die down without substantial achievement. This is a one time given opportunity and must be utilized to the best of our interest.

NCP has the strength of the lost sheep and will keep on the intimidation our politicians and delaying tactics in the future. This must come to an end, and it is our duty as citizens to expose NCP inside out.

KEEP THE PROTEST GOING, SOUTH AFRICA DID IT BEFORE, IT WORKS, KEEP GOING!
Thanks!
