Awut Deng Acuil, the outgoing Minister of Labour and Public Service has reportedly tendered in her resignation on Thursday, allegedly due to crisis in public service reform.

(Juba South Sudan NSV) - It has come to the attention of The New Sudan Vision that the Minister of Labour and Public Service in the Government of the Republic of South Sudan, Awut Deng Acuil, has tendered in her resignation on Thursday.

As this is a breaking news story, we're now confirming that President Salva Kiir has issued a decree, accepting the resignation, and relieving her from the post after she wrote her letter, a source who has obtained the decree told The New Sudan Vision.

The decree says nothing about the reasons for her resignation.

Details of the Minister’s resignation are sketchy at best. A government source, who confirmed Awut’s resignation on condition of anonymity, told The New Sudan Vision one of the main reasons Awut vowed out was allegedly due to crisis in civil service reform.

Yet a close source to the Minister claimed Awut didn’t want to serve in a “corrupt government.”  The same source however went on to explain President Kiir accepted the resignation under "pressure." He didn't elaborate.

Meanwhile, NewSudanVision.com also understands that Mrs. Awut is out of the country. The close source told us the outgoing Minister of Labour and Public Service left for India on Saturday to attend to a family emergency.

Awut has consistently served as Minister of Labour and Public Service since 2008. She was the only cabinet member whose post was not reshuffled when Ministers where being moved from one post to another.
